Context

In 2016, WebTVAsia was Asia's largest YouTube Multi-Channel Network (MCN), overseeing over 2000 prominent Asian content creators from 12 countries.

With a subscriber base of 70 million people, it resulted in a remarkable 1.2 billion views per month, a significant accomplishment during the era of Netflix and Youku's emergence.

I showcased my work as WebTVAsia’s Visual Director and Head of Innovation because it best represents what you’re looking for.

Achievements

During my time at WebTVAsia, I crafted a strategy for capturing opportunities, maximized executive participation in the creativity and development process, boosted efficiency through rapid prototyping, converged teams into implementation, and launched relevant and profitable products to the market on time.

Viral Fest Asia

Viral Fest Asia is an online digital festival dedicated to celebrating Asia's most creative and powerful viral videos. It has grown into an online community of over 5 million views on YouTube.

In 2016 and 2017, I acted as Head of Innovation, aiming for design and technology improvements. I was responsible for the entire creative process, strategizing, designing, and creating the event's visual identity, media kits, landing pages, and mobile apps for iOS and Android platforms.

My Team’s effort enabled attendees to navigate the event through maps and schedules easily, purchase tickets directly from their phones, RSVP to events, discover more about featured speakers and sponsors, and instantly follow them on social media.

The seamless integration of these features resulted in a comprehensive and user-friendly experience that undoubtedly contributed to the event's overall success.

Head of Innovation

The following section demonstrates how successful projects require a perfect combination of design, strategy, planning, implementation, coordination, and execution.

The project involved multiple teams, including Creative Directors, Art Directors, UX and Visual Designers, and Frontend and Mobile app development teams, collaborating to ensure creative interactivity to the VFA initiative while exploring innovative solutions.

Learnings

Over these two years, I gained invaluable experience effectively communicating with a diverse audience comprising millennials, Media&Adv partners, Creators, Investors, and Digital Entertainment specialists, all hailing from 12 countries and speaking seven languages.

This challenging project taught me the importance of tailoring messaging to suit varying target audiences while delivering a valuable and meaningful product. As a result of this effort, we successfully presented ViralFest App at the largest Viral Videos Festival in Asia, reaching a wider audience and achieving a significant impact.

WTVA Awards

WebTVAsia Awards is an annual awards show that celebrates the achievements of creators within Asia, aiming to bring together all platforms, creators, and audiences through engaging formats.

Asia is the most densely populated, culturally diverse, and creatively enriched continent, fueled by insatiable demand from Millennial consumers. The phenomenal growth of highly engaging digital content across significant platforms sets the stage for its most talented Asian creators to be connected, recognized, and celebrated. The contest aims to elevate its target audiences and increase the awareness of these platforms.

In 2016 and 2017, I acted as Visual Director and was responsible for the entire event’s visual identity.

The following section demonstrates how my Team implemented an e-magazine for the WTVA Awards 2017.

During the event, the online traffic reached up to 70,000 visitors, validating our approach to user experience and our ability to deliver creative and effective entertainment solutions.

Learnings

Over four months, my Team worked with a target audience of 12 to 19 years old. While intense, this experience was precious in understanding users’ opinions and preferences and allowed us to recreate an environment they truly resonated with.

Through this process, we learned the importance of creating, testing, and optimizing as we identified and implemented changes that better aligned with our audience's needs and desires.
